rCB: Black Gold from End-of-Life Tires

What is Recycled Carbon Black (rCB)?

Conventional carbon black (vCB) is a key raw material in tire manufacturing, 

but its production heavily relies on fossil fuels and generates significant carbon emissions. 

Recycled carbon black (rCB), on the other hand, is a sustainable alternative extracted 

from end-of-life tires through thermochemical recycling.

Core Production Process: Tire Pyrolysis

The production of rCB primarily relies on high-temperature pyrolysis technology, 

which converts waste rubber into high-value materials:

  • Pre-treatment & Pyrolysis: End-of-life tires are shredded and magnetically separated to remove steel wires,

    then thermally decomposed at 400–800°C in an oxygen-free environment.

  • Product Separation: The long rubber chains break down, producing pyrolysis oil,

    combustible gas, and solid residue (crude carbon black mixed with steel wire).

  • Refining & Modification: The crude carbon black undergoes deep purification processes such as grinding,

    ash removal, and desulfurization, followed by pelletizing to produce high-quality finished rCB.

Tire Manufacturing

As a reinforcing filler, rCB can replace up to 60% of virgin carbon black in passenger car and truck tires.

In rubber flooring, sealing rings, conveyor belts, and anti-vibration components, 

rCB can achieve 100% replacement, reducing costs while meeting stringent physical performance requirements.
